Education Deans for Justice and Equity is comprised of dedicated education leaders committed to justice, equity, and transformation for the greater good. We are passionate about making a positive impact on the education community and ensuring equal opportunities for all. Our team brings together a diverse range of expertise and experiences to drive meaningful change in the field of education.

Terry Flennaugh
Terry Flennaugh is the Associate Dean of Access and Community Engagement at Michigan State University's College of Education. Also an Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education, he specializes in race, culture and equity in education. His research focuses primarily on the educational experiences of Black males and other students of color in urban contexts.

Sumi Hagiwara
Sumi Hagiwara is the Inaugural Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College for Education and Engaged Learning and an associate professor in early childhood and elementary education at Montclair State University. Her expertise is equity, diversity, culture, and early childhood/elementary science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, computer science (CS) education and computational thinking.
